Uk Greeting Cards
This brief required me to create a collection of greeting
cards, an A5 notebook, a boxed card set, bags etc. for a holiday of my choice and I chose to design a collection of Eid.
My chosen design was based on Islamic architecture. I also studied the layout of the cover of the Quran, Islamic Prayer mats etc. Based on my understanding of these, I developed a pattern and based the designs of the greeting cards and other items in the collection.
I started off by testing out simple layouts with simple patterns however, these didn't work well. Arabic/Islamic architecture
usually have rich patterns and these designs didn't convey that. So I took an illustrative approach and developed a new pattern. I then broke this new pattern down to for other patterns and used It for my collection
Here is the image I illustrated. The colour scheme of the pattern was inspired by Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem.
Here are some patterns I developed based on parts of the image I illustrated above.
